| 描述: | In the jungle city of Pangkalan Bun in Borneo (Indonesia), large multistory concrete tower buildings (easily the tallest structures) known as "bird houses" rise throughout the town. They provide nesting space for ediblenest swiftlets which are there to provide nests (made of saliva) for the making of Chinese bird's nest soup. This is a very big local business with 1 kg of material worth ~500 USD. The natural sounds of the birds are supplemented with numerous speakers placed in the buildings to attract additional nesters. Pangkalan Bun rings with this continuous sound 24/7. PCMD50 |
